Understanding pelvic pain
Pelvic pain may occur during daily activity, sexual activity, bladder or bowel function, or at other times. These patterns can have different causes. Explain what you notice and how it affects you; you do not need to arrive with a diagnosis or share more than you feel ready to discuss.
Persistent or unexplained pelvic pain needs medical assessment. Physiotherapy may be part of care where appropriate, but it does not replace investigation of a new or acute pelvic problem. Severe or worsening pain, fainting or heavy bleeding needs emergency assessment.
A conversation before an examination
At REVIVELAB, Melissa Chea offers pelvic health physiotherapy for women. Bring relevant medical advice and describe the tasks or situations that are difficult. You can ask what each assessment option would tell you, decline an internal examination or stop at any point.
Agree on a plan that respects your comfort
If physiotherapy is suitable, discuss the findings and how care relates to your symptoms and goals. Exercises may address different needs; more squeezing is not automatically the answer. Ask how to review your response and when medical follow-up is needed. The clinic can help you choose a pelvic-health appointment if you are unsure where to start.
Assessment and treatment options
These are options to discuss after an assessment, not a recommendation to book every service. Your symptoms, health history, goals and preferences guide the plan.
