Understanding tennis and golfer's elbow
These names describe common tendon-related pain patterns around the elbow, often noticed with gripping or wrist use. Tennis elbow is associated with the outer elbow and golfer’s elbow with the inner side; you do not need to play either sport to have symptoms.
Assessment considers the task, symptom pattern and relevant strength. Exercise and changes to repetitive demands may be discussed, with additional techniques chosen according to your findings and preferences.
Outer elbow and inner elbow symptoms differ
Tennis elbow usually describes symptoms around the outside of the elbow; golfer’s elbow refers to the inner side. Neither requires playing the sport. Tell your practitioner whether gripping, lifting, turning a tool or moving the wrist is the main difficulty, and mention any tingling or symptoms extending into the hand.
Work toward the grip you actually need
Bring an example of your work or sport demands: the tool, lift, racket or club that brings on discomfort, how long you use it and what happens afterward. At REVIVELAB, physiotherapy can help you discuss suitable activity changes and exercises following assessment. Extra treatments are options to evaluate, not a substitute for rebuilding the capacity needed for that task.
Assessment and treatment options
These are options to discuss after an assessment, not a recommendation to book every service. Your symptoms, health history, goals and preferences guide the plan.
