Understanding post-surgical rehabilitation
Recovery after surgery depends on the operation, the stage of healing and the instructions from your surgical team. Bring your procedure details, restrictions and any rehabilitation guidance to the assessment.
Your practitioner can discuss movement, strength and daily activities within that guidance. Pelvic or abdominal surgery may also raise questions about comfort, bladder or bowel symptoms and returning to exercise, which can be discussed privately with the appropriate clinician.
Prepare the details before your first visit
Bring the procedure name and date, surgical or discharge instructions, weight-bearing or movement restrictions and the date of your next follow-up. Tell the clinic about any brace or walking aid. Contact us before booking if you are unsure whether we can support your particular procedure or stage of recovery.
Progress within the surgical plan
Physiotherapy at REVIVELAB can address appropriate movement, strength and daily tasks while respecting the treating team’s guidance. A shoulder operation and a knee operation do not share one exercise schedule or return-to-sport date. Ask how progress will be checked and who to contact if recovery changes. Wound concerns or sudden worsening symptoms should be raised with your surgical or medical team, not held until the next rehabilitation visit.
Assessment and treatment options
These are options to discuss after an assessment, not a recommendation to book every service. Your symptoms, health history, goals and preferences guide the plan.
