The driving range, carrying a bag and playing 18 holes are different demands. Describe which part of golf is difficult instead of assuming your swing alone is to blame.
This is general education for adults, not a diagnosis or an individualized exercise prescription. Your symptoms, health history and any existing medical advice come first.
What might be behind the symptoms?
Repeated gripping and swinging can aggravate upper-limb symptoms, while other pain may have a different source. An elbow, back or wrist concern needs its own assessment rather than a universal golf fix.
Our golf injuries guide explains the related assessment and care options in more detail.
What you can try at home
Reduce the part of practice that reliably provokes symptoms and note whether discomfort appears during or after play. Avoid adding a large number of practice swings to test recovery. Ask about a graded return suited to the affected area.
Stop a self-care measure if it increases symptoms. If you are unsure whether it is suitable, ask a qualified health professional; do not delay medical care while trying home remedies.
When to seek medical help
Pain after a fall, loss of sensation, progressive weakness or substantial swelling needs medical assessment. New symptoms should not be hidden with medication just to complete a round.
For a medical emergency in Alberta, call 911. Health Link at 811 can help with non-emergency health advice when you are unsure where to go.
How this fits your daily life
- Golfers & racquet-sport players: Bring an example of your usual practice volume and describe whether symptoms begin during play or later. We can discuss a gradual return to the course or court without promising an instant swing fix.

A useful question for your appointment
“Is the relevant change practice volume, carrying demands or a specific movement, and which appointment should I start with?”
Which REVIVELAB service should you discuss?
- Physiotherapy — discuss assessment, movement and a rehabilitation plan.
- Chiropractic care — discuss a movement-focused assessment and appropriate care options.
These are options to discuss, not a recommendation to book every treatment. Please speak with a qualified professional at REVIVELAB for an assessment and advice tailored to you.
