Fit the appointment around the problem, not just the workday

If you live or work in Calgary’s downtown core, getting to an appointment is only part of the decision. Tell your physiotherapist how symptoms affect your work, commute, home life or training. A desk task, time on your feet or a return to exercise can each raise different questions. The aim is to discuss the activities you want to do more comfortably.

Prepare a clear account of what has changed

Write down when the concern began, which movements are difficult and whether the pattern changes during the day. Bring relevant medical instructions and existing reports if you have them. Melissa Chea provides physiotherapy at REVIVELAB; the assessment is an opportunity to discuss findings and decide what an appropriate plan could involve.

Make between-visit advice realistic

If your schedule leaves little time or you have limited equipment at home, say so. Ask which steps matter most, how to carry them out and what would mean the plan needs adjusting. Education, exercise and hands-on care may be considered according to the assessment. You can discuss preferences and ask for an explanation before any treatment.

Plan the journey across to Bridgeland

REVIVELAB is northeast of downtown, on the north side of the Bow River. All appointments are at 217 4 St NE, Unit 105. We are not a downtown office. Use directions from your actual starting point and check clinic hours and appointment length before fitting a visit between commitments. If walking, stairs or access are difficult, contact the clinic to discuss your needs before travelling.
